Now, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is very common in our daily life, but many people do not understand the role and function of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, also referred to as hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC), is a non-ionic cellulose mixed ether. It is a semi-synthetic, inactive viscoelastic polymer, widely used in construction, coatings and other industries.
When HPMC is in the construction industry: as a water-retaining agent and retarder for cement mortar, the mortar is pumpable. Used as a binder in mortar, gypsum material, putty powder or other building materials to improve spreadability and extend working time. Used to paste ceramic tiles, marble materials, plastic decoration, paste reinforcement, can also reduce the amount of cement. HPMC's water-retaining properties can prevent the slurry from drying too quickly after construction and breaking, and improve the strength after hardening.
