Gypsum-based plastering:
Water retention: Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose can retain the water in the mortar, so that the gypsum is completely set. The higher the viscosity of the solution, the stronger the water retention capacity, and conversely, the water retention capacity decreases.
Sag resistance: Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose allows builders to apply thicker coatings without causing building ripples.
